Novel Extract. One for the Paying Subscribers
Here's an out of context extract from my novel. Though part of a larger scene I feel it works as a self contained piece. Note the light Manson themes. Funny how things bleed across areas.
The girls sit cross legged. They seem to be feeding off each other’s childlike energy. Giggling, squeals. This is most notedly out of character for Becky Spivek who’s natural expression is something close to a glare. This breathes a sinister air into her clapping and cheering.
Down either side of their circle, two ropes that could have come off a sailing ship sprawl without explanation. Kathleen is twirling a peer of vicious looking sheers. I squeeze my eyes shut as the gym lights reflect off their pointed tip. Kelly Groll has one hand resting on a paper guillotine, the tongue of a thick roll of brown parchment waits to be severed to a desired length.
I think I catch a knowing glance between the girls as Lester stalks through the open doorway, though this might have been imagined. He wanders in with a comfort that suggests this might not be the first time his lanky frame has pried onto campus grounds.
