Sincerity, David Foster Wallace and Tik Tok

I recently had the fleeting idea of starting a Tik Tok account. I planned on using it as a way to market my writing, maybe draw some more followers to this page.

But man.

First of all. It took about ten minutes (which felt like three seconds) for the algorithm to shape itself around my twisted taste. My feed exclusively consists of videos from inside prison cells, robberies, videos filmed by people with ankle bracelets, flooding, and….(I’m not proud of this one) people who, let’s just say, probably aren’t going to end up being doctors.

And that’s only the part of it that I like.
