I just got excited when I saw your opening note because I do NYC Midnight competitions as well! They’re so fun, and I’ve found them to be hugely helpful to my writing.
Yea I've entered five or six of the NYC midnight competitions by this point. The feedback they offer is really helpful and the prompts always send me down routes I never would have naturally gone. Although on this last one, I'll admit I did find myself forcing the story a bit to fit into the criteria. That's not a bad thing though--this in itself is an insight I wouldn't have gained without entering this round of the competition.
A very suspenseful story! I definitely didn’t see the twist coming. This reminded me a bit of The Prestige, especially with the surprise ending!
